ROLLCALL

THERE ARE MANY BOOKS AND OTHER SOURCES OF INFORMATION ON THE TUGS AND THE PART THEY PLAYED IN OUR MARITIME HISTORY AND, SPECIFICALLY ON THIS SITE,  THE HISTORY OF THE RIVER THAMES AND THE COMMUNITIES ON ITS BANKS.  DETAILS OF THE MEN WHO WERE PART OF IT AND DESERVE WIDER RECOGNITION ARE HARDER TO FIND.

ON THE PAGES LISTED BELOW YOU WILL FIND NAMES OF SOME OF THE TUGMEN WHO HAVE SERVED ON THE RIVER THAMES TUGS. THE NAMES ARE MOSTLY FROM THE 19TH CENTURY. FOR REASONS OF PRIVACY LATER NAMES HAVE NOT BEEN INCLUDED UNLESS INCLUSION HAS BEEN SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED BY RELATIVES WHO HAVE VISITED THE SITE AND SUPPLIED THE INFORMATION.

DETAILS OF SOME OF THE TUGS LISTED APPEAR ON THIS SITE. I HAVE A SEPERATE UNPUBLISHED LIST OF DETAILS OF OVER 120 MORE EARLY THAMES TUGS. PLEASE CONTACT ME AND ASK FOR DETAILS IF YOU CANNOT FIND THEM ON SITE.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE SAME NAME COULD BE USED FOR SEVERAL DIFFERENT TUGS OVER THE YEARS AND NOT NECCESSARILY WITHIN THE SAME COMPANY. ALL BIRTH DATES SHOULD BE TREATED AS "ABOUT". IF YOU WISH TO ADD ANY FURTHER DETAILS TO THE LIST PLEASE CONTACT THE SITE VIA THE EMAIL LINK TO BE FOUND ON THE MESS ROOM PAGE.

THESE PAGES ARE DEDICATED TO THOSE LOST AT SEA OR WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE IN WARTIME.
